The festival of Makar Sankranti was celebrated at Chubby Cheeks Spring Valley High School on 16 January with great pomp and joy.

The importance and relevance of the festival was told by the teacher to students during assembly. All the students from grade 5-10 were shown a video in the library explaining the cultural as well as the scientific reasons behind Makar Sankranti.

A kite making activity was conducted for students, wherein students were informed to make kites from home and bring to school. “Budkuli painting (Haldi kukum matki)” activity was conducted for the students of Std 5. Students had to bring their matki from home and paint it in the school. Chart making activity was conducted for the students of Std 6 and 7. Colorful charts depicting the theme of Makar Sankranti were made by the students in the school and later displayed on notice boards. Students of Std 8 and 9 added more flavor to the day by bringing in sweets pertaining to the festival, which was later distributed amongst the students.
