Bangalore Mysore Study Tour
A study tour to Bangalore – Mysore was organised by the management of Chubby Cheeks Spring Valley High School from 31st October – 5th November 2019. A group of 48 students along with the teachers boarded the bus on 31st October at the school premises and left for the tour. We reached at the Margao railway station and boarded the Chennai Express train at 3:15 p.m.
On 1st November 2019 we reached Bangalore at around 5:30 a.m.. A bus was arranged ,which dropped us at the hotel ‘Golden Residency.’ It was a nice hotel with good amenities. After refreshing and having our breakfast we went to visit the Visvesvarya Industrial and Technological Museum. It was a great zone of learning for the students .there were various simple machines displayed like levers, tools, gears, typewriters .the space gallery was too good where they have shown rare pictures of astronauts ,Rockets that were launched etc. The visit to the museum helped the students to gain knowledge on almost every field of science.
After having delicious lunch We moved on to the Lal Bagh .We went on the hill where there was a Shrine. The view was beautiful from the top of the hill.We then moved to the interiors of the Lal Bagh .There were different types of plants.We saw the glass house and the fountain which looked beautiful. We then went to the Mantri Mall in Bangalore. Children enjoyed in the mall. They did a bit of shopping of their choice and were all happily back to the hotel.
The next day 2nd November after having our breakfast we were all set to visit Wonder La . We left for Wonder La at around 9:00 a.m. and reached there by 10:30 a.m. students were all excited to be in one of the biggest amusement park in India. Students enjoyed the land and water rides .It was nice to see them stress free running from one ride to another .They watched the musical fountain show and the laser show . We then had our lunch at Hotel Chillies and the children continued with the rides.They enjoyed the rain dance too . We all were so engrossed at Wonder La that we didn’t realise how fast the time flew away and it was already 6:00 p.m. We all enjoyed at the amusement park .
After refreshing we moved on to Mysore. We reached hotel Vishakh inn at around 9:45 p.m. this hotel too was good. The staff was very good and cooperative.
The next day that is 3rd November the Catholic children attended mass at St. Philomena Cathedral Mysore .After that we all had our breakfast and were all set to visit the Mysore zoo .We reached the zoo at around 10:00 a.m. the area inside is filled with greenery .At the entrance ,both the sides of the pathway are lined up with different variety of birds that include parrots, peacock ,swans, cranes etc. We were able to see various wild animals. It was nice to see the animals in their Natural habitat .Students were excited to see crocodiles which at one point looked artificial but they were not. At last the students were excited to see the different types of snakes. students learnt about the animal adoption scheme. Before the exit from the zoo the children ate ice -creams to chill themselves. It was a nice experience at the zoo.
The same day after lunch we visited the Mysore Palace belonging to the Wodeyar dynasty .
Students were astonished to see the architectural styles of the domes .the palace is surrounded by large Garden.
There were various displays in the palace which include Royal dresses ,souvenirs, musical instrument and weapons used by the wodeyars .An array of superb paintings including the ones illustrating eight manifestation of goddess Shakti a Masterpiece by famed artist Raja Ravi Varma find place in the palace .Over all the visit to the palace helped the students to gain historical knowledge.
The same evening we went to the Brindavan Garden which has lots of wide open space and colourful fountains the musical fountains were too good.
The next morning on 4th November we went to the Chamundi Hills and the view from there was quite breathtaking .We visited the Chamundeshwara Temple .We saw the big Statue of the demon Mahishasura whom Chamundeshwara killed. The children did a little of street shopping.
We then also visited St.Philomena’s Cathedral. After lunch we visited Tipu Sultan’s Summer palace in Mysore .It was extremely beautiful and well organised it had paintings on the wall of the battles Tipu Sultan and his father Haider Ali fought against the Europeans. There were coins, weapons and dress code of Tipu Sultan for display .There was a beautiful garden in front of the palace.
We then further carried on with our journey to the Yeshwantpur railway station Bangalore. We boarded the train at 9:25 p.m. and reached Goa on 5th November at 12:30 p.m. .Overall it was a nice study tour with sweet memories to be treasured in our heart and soul.
